Leslie Thornton was born in Skipton, Yorkshire and studied at the Royal Collage of Art.
He held one-man exhibitions at Gimpel Fils Gallery from 1957 onwards.
Public galleries include the Guggenheim and Museum of Modern Art [New York].
His wonderful welded bronze sculptures were all unique and his work now has a cult following.
